Last week I made a big mistake. You would think I would know better after all these years of marriage, but I am a very slow learner. Virginia, my wife, is a great cook, but I casually made the comment the other night that I was just getting tired of eating the same meals all the time. It was getting a little boring.
That was a terrible mistake. Some wives might have been offended or insulted by that, but not Virginia. She took it as a personal challenge. Sure enough, the next night, when I got home, she was cooking gizzards and frog legs for supper. I asked for different; I got different! I also got the message. Now it has become a joke. She tried to pass off pig’s tail last night as braised short ribs. Thankfully she also made my favorite meal country fried steak. We need to try new things every now and then, but always remember to be grateful for what you have. Don’t take for granted the good things that you enjoy everyday. Pause each day and give thanks for the amazing everyday blessings around you. As the Apostle Paul reminded us, “Always be thankful.” Honestly, it was hard for me to be thankful for gizzards, but the frog legs were pretty good.
