I Corinthians 15:58 says, “Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time or energy.” Here is a conviction: serving God and others is far more satisfying than being a spectator. You can make your way Sunday after Sunday to a church service, sit in a pew, watch a good service, hear great music, occasionally hear a decent sermon, feel good, go home, and come back next week. But I don’t believe that is what God really desires of you. He knows that spectating is not as fulfilling as using your gifts. It is getting involved, doing whatever God has given you to do for Him to build up His church, to serve others, to share His love, to witness for Him in the world. Serving is God’s will for your life and mine, and God always blesses obedience to His will. So I encourage you this week to throw yourself into the work of the Master, because when you are serving others and serving God, it just feels good. It just feels right, and that is because it is good and it is right. Throw yourself in to the work of the Master; be a servant, not a spectator, and watch your faith come alive and watch the influence of your witness increase. – Dr. Tim Thompson
