Last Wednesday, Sept. 10, a massive storm erupted on the sun and earth was in its direct path. The X-class solar flare – the most powerful type by NASA’s standard of measurement – fired away from the Earth-facing sunspot known as Active Region 2158. These huge solar events can temporarily disrupt HF radio communications, GPS, and power grids on Earth. Looking at the video images provided by NASA reminds me of God’s sheer power. More importantly, this sunspot’s ability to temporarily interrupt communications on Earth can be scary. However, when I came across this news story, my mind went in a different direction. Occasionally, I need an X-class solar flare to temporarily disrupt my communications. I need a sunspot facing in my direction to shut me down so I can refocus my life. I need the “Son” spot of Christ facing toward me to shoot a solar flare in order to disrupt my plans. I need the “Son” spot to interrupt my daily communications. I need the radio silence to center myself on the things of God. Earth has a sunspot facing in her direction. Do you have the “Son” spot facing in your direction? Maybe today you need an extended interruption from your daily communication in order to commune with the Son of God.
