I want to invite you to ponder these words written by Helen Steiner Rice called The Bend In the Road, “Sometimes we come to life’s crossroads, and we view what we think is the end. But God has a much wider vision, and He knows it is only a bend. The road will go on and get smoother, and after we stop for a rest, the path that lies hidden beyond us is often the path that is best. So rest and relax and grow stronger. Let go and let God share your load. Have faith in a brighter tomorrow. You’ve just come to a bend in the road.” If you are dealing with disappointments and pain and trouble and frustrations and heartache, it might do you well to remember that those things don’t mean that you are at the end of the road. Sometimes they are just a bend in the road leading us on to something far greater and far better than we could ever imagine or hope for. Sometimes life’s disappointments are God’s appointment for you. Perhaps that is what the Bible means when it says, “All things work together for good of those who love the Lord.”
