How do you know what is true, what is false, what is right, and what is wrong? There are a lot of different voices in the world claiming to be speaking the truth. Do you know what Jesus says? He says, “If you continue in My word, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Truth is found in God’s word, in God’s teaching, in Jesus, who is the word in human flesh. Jesus didn’t say, “You shall know a truth.” He said, “You shall know the truth.” There is absolute truth. Jesus said in John 17:17, “Your word is truth.” The Bible is the ultimate source for absolute truth because it is God’s word. A thing is true because God says it. Truth can be tinkered with, tampered with, redecorated, camouflaged, and ignored, but it will never change. Jesus said, “I am the truth.” The Bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The truth of God’s word is solid, unchangeable, and eternal, and that is something solid and secure to build your life on. Jesus didn’t say, “If you know My teachings, if you memorize My words, if you have the facts about the Bible you will know the truth.” He said, “If you continue in My word, you will know the truth.” That simply means that we are to make our home in God’s word. Spend some time everyday in God’s word. You will find the truth, and the truth will set you free.
