READ: Colossians 1:17
Once at a children’s camp, I brought a beautiful glass dish to use an object lesson on how we are each uniquely made in God’s image. It was a treasured personal possession: the plate that had been mine at every special occasion with my extended family and the only item I received after my grandmother’s death. Unfortunately, when I set it down I misjudged the table, and the plate shattered on the floor. My heart was in nearly as many pieces as the dish. During that week, however, God spoke to me through Colossians 1:17: “all things are held together” by Christ. I knew I could never put the dish back together as it was, but I had an idea. I took some super glue and carefully placed the pieces of the dish onto a flower pot. At the end of camp, I was able to hold up my new creation for the children to see. Now, not only could I tell them that they were each uniquely made in the image of God, I could also show them that God can take even our brokenness and transform it into something even more beautiful. Jesus is the “super glue” that holds everything together. Are you willing to trust the pieces of your life into his hands?
