READ: Psalm 85:6
Some of the most thrilling acts of God have been those times we call “revivals”—supernatural moves of God that brought repentance and power to a lukewarm church. The Welsh Revival of 1904-1905 is an awesome example. Some 150,000 people in Great Britain came to know Christ, and as the Church become fully awake to Jesus, the society was transformed. In many districts the police had little to do as crime dropped. Bars closed down, drunkenness was cut in half, and families were restored. The revival was marked by praise, prayer, and testimony. God showed up, and people were transformed. A major figure in this revival was a young man named Evan Roberts. After praying fervently for his country for thirteen months, Roberts began to share his joy and love for Jesus with other young people. The Welsh Revival followed. Roberts listed four keys to revival: first, the past must be clear, every sin confessed to God, any wrong to man put right; second, everything doubtful must be removed from our lives; third, prompt obedience to the Spirit of God, and fourth, publicly confess Jesus Christ. Many church people today have never seen God move in power, and yet He longs to do so if we are willing to pay the price in prayer and a return to holiness. Let us pray with all our hearts for revival—in our church, our city, our nation
