READ: Matthew 6:10
There is an old hymn that we sing occasionally called, “I Surrender All.” It goes like this: “All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, and in His presence daily live.”
That is exactly what we are doing every time we pray, “Thy will be done.” When we pray that part of the Lord’s Prayer, we are surrendering our lives, our goals, our plans, our future, and our way to God. We are saying, “Hey, God, I need to get my life out of my hands. I am making a mess with my way. I am stressed out, tuckered out, and played out from trying to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, from trying to control and manipulate the outcomes I want from my life. I give up, Lord. I surrender. I put my life in your hands. Thy will be done. I submit to you, whatever you want me to do, wherever you want me to go, however you want me to live, whatever you want me to give up or give away, whatever is blocking me from finding your serenity and peace. However you answer my prayers, even if it is not the answer I want, Thy will be done.”
When you pray that, believe that, and live that, you will find yourself in God’s sweet spot for your life.
