One of my favorite quotes is by Christopher Marley: “Never write in your diary on the day itself. It takes longer than a day to know what happened.” Don’t get discouraged because the work you have been doing, the seeds you have planted aren’t growing or because things in your life are not as you planned or because there are things around you that are happening that don’t make sense, God is faithful and dependable. Through all the twists and turns and detours and ups and downs and unexpected turns, there runs a thread of God’s eternal plan. God is at work. Wait it out. Don’t panic. There are times when we wonder if God knows what is going on or if God is going to do something. We want God to act now, but then, we like instant results. The tendency is to take charge and to take matters into our own hands. Listen, wait it out. God is at work. We ask why doesn’t God do something and the answer is that God is doing something and he is asking you to do something. He is asking you to hold on and wait. God’s timing is perfect. Let God work. He has all eternity, trillions and trillions of years, to have His work be done in your life and in mine. So never write in your diary on the day itself. It is going to take you a lot longer than a day to know what happened.
