Have you ever heard of a ball hawk? Ball hawks are people whose hobby and passion is going to major league baseball games. They go to see how many baseballs they can accumulate. To ball hawks, any baseball used by a big league team is like the Holy Grail. It doesn’t matter whether they catch it, chase it down, scoop it off the field, or even if they beg the player, coach, or umpire to toss them a ball, every ball is a victory. Thirty-two year old Zack Hample is a world-class ball hawk. He has gathered 4,569 baseballs. He is a passionate pursuer of baseballs. He learned how to say, “Please throw me the ball,” in five different languages. I have never thought of it this way, but God is a people hawk. He is passionately and madly in love with you and me. If you are on the wrong road, He passionately pursues you to get you back on the right road. If you get lost, He goes looking for you, and He won’t give up until He finds you. I hope that you will be a God hawk. If you are a God hawk, if you are determined, passionate, and persistent in the seeking of God, you will find Him. That’s the promise. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “When you come looking for me, you will find me. Yes, when you get sure about finding me and want it more than anything else, I will make sure you are not disappointed.” (The Message)
