Lauryn Williams made news in Sochi, Russia when she became the first U.S. woman to medal in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. She won a gold medal as a sprinter in London four years ago, and this year won a silver medal on the bobsled. It’s an extremely rare feat, which only five people in history have achieved. She wrote on her blog, “Running down hill on ice pushing a 400lb sled may sound crazy to some but I am having SO MUCH FUN!!”
Lauryn’s accomplishment reminds me of how Paul warned Timothy to proclaim God’s truth “in season and out.” All of us tend to have seasons when we are “on” and seasons when we are “off’; we have “good days” and “bad days.” However, it’s important to remember that we are witnesses for Christ every day and in every season. In fact, how we handle ourselves on the “bad days” may be the most powerful witness we have. On the good days, no one is surprised if you thank God. But if others observe us still praising God and walking in His ways, even on the tough days, they will be drawn to Christ. So, whether you are facing summer sunshine, or winter cold, show Christ to the world today. – Ken Roach
