READ: PSALM 119: 97-105
I love the Bible. It is God’s love letter to me and to you. When I was cleaning out stuff after my momma and daddy died, I found two shoeboxes, one filled with letters my daddy had written to my momma and the other with letters my momma had written to daddy. They were love letters written fifty years before. They were filled with some mushy-gushy stuff, but mostly they were sharing their hearts with each other, sharing the details of their day, offering encouragement, expressing love. They were beautiful. I wonder what those letters must have meant to them and how it made them feel to open them and read them.
The Bible is God’s love letter to you and to me. God is sharing His heart, His encouragement, His wisdom, His hope, His love, His strength, His guidance for you and me. You can read the Bible as a book of great historical significance or as a fine piece of literature. You can read it to get information and knowledge, but the Bible is personal. I invite you to read it as a love letter. It has your name written all over it. If you will ponder its words, listen to God’s voice, you will experience His love and that love will transform your life.
