READ: Luke 18:10-14
A lady had invited some people to dinner. At the table she turned to her six year old daughter and said, “Would you like to say the blessing?” “I wouldn’t know what to say,” she replied. “Well, just say what you hear Mommy say,” and the daughter bowed her head and said, “Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?” I am grateful for the refreshing honesty of children. The Lord always honors honesty. Jesus told a story about two men, one a self-righteous man who prayed, “Thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else.” The humble man prayed, “Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner.” Which prayer did God honor? He honored the honest prayer of the humble man. Always remember, it is not your goodness that gets you close to God. It’s your honesty. Nothing gets God’s attention quicker than an honest heart. Just be honest with God today and perhaps you will feel the presence of God like you have never felt it before.
