READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:19
Six different bird feeders are outside our breakfast window, and more seed is scattered on the ground. Two of the feeders contain thistle for the chickadees and the finches. One feeder holds black sunflower seeds, a favorite for cardinals. Two feeders closest to the window, hold a combination of fruits and nuts for the tufted titmouse. Unique food for woodpeckers and dove is scattered on the ground. To draw birds to the yard, we must offer food unique to the birds’ tastes, through different types of delivery methods, all packaged in unique containers.
It makes me think of Christianity. Paul said, “I have become all things to all men that I might by all means save some.” The message of the gospel remained the same. Paul discovered that for people to listen to the gospel, he must offer the good news of Jesus differently, based on the background and circumstances of the person in front of him. Paul offered people the salvation story of Jesus in words they would most readily receive.
Who around you needs Jesus? Have you prayed about them, looked for the opportunity to offer them just the right word, offered in just the right way, so as to attract them to Christ?
