READ: ISAIAH 40:3-5
I love a song that Natalie Cole used to sing, “My Grown Up Christmas List.” In it she reminisces about sitting on Santa’s knee and telling him her childhood wishes. She sings that now, as an adult, she still has things that she would like for Christmas—not just for herself, but for the world: “Lives that won’t be torn apart, wars that will never start, time that will heal the heart and everyone will have a friend, and right will always win, and love will never end. This is my lifelong dream, my grown up Christmas list.”
A grown up Christmas list sounds a lot like the list that Isaiah had of the gifts that the Savior would bring when He came into the world. Anticipating the coming of Jesus, he said that when He comes, He will make this world a better place. Where Jesus is, valleys will be lifted up, the mountains will be brought low, the crooked places will become straight, and the rough places will be smoothed out. What do you have on your grown up Christmas list? I hope you will make your list and bring it to God and remember, that when Jesus comes, wherever He comes , that He will make this world better.
