READ: ACTS 1:8
When Jesus called His first disciples, He didn’t say, “Follow me and I will give you health and wealth. Follow me and I will give you a reserved spot on the best pew. Follow me and point fingers at the sins of others.” He said, “Follow me, and I’ll make you fishers of men.”
A man was accused of a crime came before the judge, who asked him if he had an attorney to represent him. The man answered, “No, I can’t afford one,” to which the judge replied, “Well don’t worry about that. I will appoint a good lawyer to represent you.” The man said, “I appreciate that, Judge, but if you sincerely want to appoint somebody to help me, what I need most is not a real good lawyer. What I really need are real some real good witnesses.”
That is what God needs and expects from us. He expects that we will be good witnesses for Him. When we are obedient to God, seeking to become more like Christ, living according to God’s words and God’s principles instead of living by the principles of culture and political correctness, loving our neighbors in a real way, then we will be good witnesses for Him. –
