Missionary’s work intersects with Frazer’s efforts in Haiti, here at home
In March of this year we partnered with a ministry in Mirebalais, Haiti called Grace so Amazing. Through this partnership we identified several deaf children who were in a very abusive and dangerous situation at a local orphanage. We had a certified interpreter on our trip and we were able to video these children telling their story with our interpreter voicing for them. This led to many of them being placed back with biological families but we were also able to connect Grace so Amazing with Mackenson and the deaf leaders in Leveque. This connection led to a mom from Leveque, who was living in Mirebalais for a time, to care for two of the deaf boys and they are now attending the school in Leveque. Our team that visited in October and the teams I will lead in December and March will spend time with the deaf school.
Donnie Manis, a Frazer member, completed our leader training this year and led a team to Ethiopia in July. He will lead again for us this year and his role with us led to him becoming a part of the ONEfamily leadership council.
Two other Frazer members, Macy Matthews and Adam Wohlford traveled with VO this year to Ethiopia and Haiti.
Because of my role with VO, I serve on the ONEfamily council, too, and I head up the orphan care part of that ministry for Frazer.
I had lunch with Jan Stevens this past Sunday and she shared some about the trip with Hands and Feet to Haiti and how she and Frank may be working more with them. This is a ministry that we have partnered with in the past and will do so again and if Frazer and the Stevens begin to work more with them I think that will make future endeavors even better.
It has been really cool in 2013 to not just receive support from Frazer but to see how God has involved the ministries of VO and Frazer together. I look forward to seeing how that expands in 2014.
